The Bible is clear that salvation is not earned by good works, religious effort, or personal merit. It is the gift of God to sinners who believe the gospel. Every person has sinned and stands in need of a Savior. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” (Romans 3:23)
The good news is that God did not leave man in his sin. He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to die for our sins and rise again. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) And the gospel is plainly given: “how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4)
To be saved, you must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. That means trusting Him alone for salvation, not trusting self, church, baptism, or good deeds. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31) Salvation is by grace through faith: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)
This is the simplicity of the gospel. A sinner comes to God, admits he cannot save himself, and trusts Christ as the only Savior. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) And again, “Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37)
If you want to be saved, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Rest in what Christ has done for you. Trust Him alone as your Savior. Salvation is not by works, but by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ. “For whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
Take a few moments right now and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust Him alone to save you. If you have believed on Him, then you are saved, you are a child of God, and you have everlasting life. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John 1:12) “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life:” (John 3:36)
